Mandatory Credit: Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports Austin FC signed winger Jimmy Farkarlun to an MLS contract Saturday, four months after he was selected by the club in the MLS SuperDraft.
Farkarlun, 22, has made 12 appearances with Austin FC II in MLS NEXT Pro and had two goals with three assists. His promotion to the top team is through the end of the 2024 season with options for 2025 and 2026.
The deal also includes a loan agreement where he can also play for Austin FC II through 2024.
A Texas Rio Grande Valley product, Farkarlun was the No. 31 overall selection in the draft and scored two goals with the first team during the preseason before receiving his MLS NEXT Pro assignment.
"Jimmy will add depth to our options at winger moving forward," Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell said in a release. "He is a young prospect with opportunities to continue to grow and improve with our Club."
A native of Liberia, Farkarlun holds a U.S. green card, making him eligible to take a supplemental spot on the roster instead of an international designation. He is eligible to play for the first team immediately.
